8 Random Bible Verse Games for Youth Groups and Sunday School

By Shahzaib Malik · Updated October 2026

Games are a great way to get young people into the Bible. All eight games below use our free Bible verse spinner or random verse generator, so they need almost no preparation. Put the tool on a TV or projector and you are ready.

1. Guess the Book

Read a random verse out loud without the reference. Teams guess which book it comes from. Give 3 points for the exact book, 1 point for the right testament.

2. Old or New?

A faster version for younger kids: just guess if the verse is from the Old Testament or New Testament. Everyone stands on one side of the room.

3. Verse Charades

Use the short verse tool. One player acts the verse out without speaking while their team guesses the words.

4. Memory Race

Show a short verse for 30 seconds, then hide it. Teams write it from memory. Most correct words wins.

5. Tell the Story

Spin a random verse and click Show context. The person who spun explains what is happening in that chapter, or the group works it out together.

6. Verse Pictionary

One player draws the verse on a whiteboard and their team guesses which verse or story it is.

7. Five-Verse Challenge

Set the generator to 5 verses. Each team must find a common theme or link between all five in two minutes, then explain it.

8. Prayer Spin

A calmer game to close the night: each person spins a verse and prays one sentence based on it.
